Dr. Russell Evans earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Oklahoma State University and specializes in regional economic forecasting and local tax incidence analysis. Dr. Evans’ research is focused on issues important to local civic leaders, including regional economic and fiscal forecasts, the economic impact of the state’s oil and gas sector, the fiscal impact of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Oklahoma Consumer Sentiment Index and the Oklahoma Energy Index.
In addition, Dr. Evans and his research staff regularly engage in funded research for the state’s Native American community, including the Cherokee Nation, the Chickasaw Nation and the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association. Dr. Evans regularly speaks to local audiences on the state of local and national economic conditions and policies with a reputation for making complex economic arguments easy to appreciate.
Dr. Evans is a member of the American Economic Association, the National Association for Business Economics and the Missouri Valley Economic Association. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Steven Agee Economic Research and Policy Institute, Meinders Schools of Business.
